Favorite Things Giveaway!

My First Giveaway!!!
Wow!  I cannot believe that I have over 100 followers!  When I first started this blog, I didn't think anyone would really want to read what I had to say.  It was just a way for me to put my thoughts down on "paper."  I hoped that what I was writing would appeal to someone, but I never imagined it would take on the form that it has.  I have learned so much from so many of you.  You have given me advice and encouragement that I could not have gotten anywhere else.  And for that I thank you.
So, without further ado, I give you my first giveaway!  Since I'm not sponsored by anyone or given free stuff from different companies (although if there are any companies out there that want me to try out and review their things I'd be happy to!) I thought my giveaway should be some of my favorite training things.

Here's what you'll get if you win!

*  1-24oz Camelbak Podium Bottle (This has got to be one of the best water bottles I have ever used!  It doesn't leak and is super easy to drink from while biking or running!)

*  1 container of Lemon-Lime NUUN (This is great because it "turns water into a refreshing, sugar-free solution that keeps you optimally hydrated wherever you are."  And, it's awesome!)

* 1  package of Fig Newtons (one of my favorite things to eat on long bike rides)

*  1 Clif Bar (I don't eat a lot of these, but I like to use them on my long bike rides.  I cut it into 6 bite-size pieces and stick them in my bento box with a mix of other things.)

*  2 packs of Margarita flavored Clif Shot Bloks (I sweat a lot and these are great to eat on the bike and run when it's super hot because they have an extra dose of sodium)

*  2 packs of Sport Beans (I like to put these in my bento box with a mix of Clif bar pieces, fig newtons, and shot bloks.  I like to have a variety and sometimes these give me the sweetness I crave.  These are also super easy to eat on the run.)

*  1 Tri-Berry Gu (This is sooo yummy!)

*  1 Bora Bora bar (I like to eat one of these before my morning swims.)

*  1 trial size tube of Aquaphor.  (This stuff is great for just about everything from sores to dry lips)

*  2 Stay Put hair bands (I wear these every time I go for a run or bike ride.  They keep my hair in place!  For the guys out there, just give these to your girlfriend or SO and they'll love them!)

*  1 pack of Orbitz gum.  (I threw this in there just because it's one of my favorite gums)

*  1 Erin Baker's breakfast cookie (O-kay, I know I don't use these for training, but I won so many of them that I thought I would share the love!)

Here's what you have to do to win.  Please leave a separate comment for each entry.
1) Become a follower of my blog, or, if you are already a follower let me know.

2)  If you were one of the first 105 followers, you get an extra entry!  Leave a comment telling me so!

3)  Tell me what some of your favorite nutrition things are for training.

The giveaway will run until Friday, August 30th.  I'll announce the winner next weekend.  Good luck! :)

Favorite nutrition tip: the day before a long run cut out dairy, high fat stuff and fiber and drink tons. This helps me so much to avoid stomach upset on my run the next day.

Patrick Mahoney said...

I follow you. I think I was in before 105. Lately when I ride I'm trying to not eat gels and processed stuff preferring a PBJ sandwich or Banana, though the banana looks silly in my back pocket.

We are both very new to training for triathlons and thats why I am glad I found your blog, so I don't have a ton of nutrition tips. I (adorable wife) have tried gatorade's new prime a few times a find it does help me feel like going running at least!

I thought I was already a follower, but I think I just added myself today (although your blog has been in my google reader for months and I love it)

Many of the things in your giveaway are my favorite training foods.
Accelerade is my staple drink.
Sport beans, fig newtons are my solids of choice.
shot bloks are too big for me I feel like they are gagging me.

I like clif bars, but never thought of breaking them into pieces and putting them in my bento box.

Congrats on your 100 followers!! I think I am up to about 8 :)

My favorite snack on long bike rides is a Payday candy bar. Especially on rides lasting a few hours. There's something about the salty peanuts that tastes SO good.

Hi Aimee. You posted on my blog last week I think. Just dropped back in for a visit and you have a free giveaway!! Cool.

I just added you to my FOLLOW list. I am number 112.

64 CLASSIC said...

Hi again Aimee. By the way, love the Denver area. Have traveled Colorado several times. LOVE the Estes Park area!!

Now--nutrition. Not my best area! If I'm doing a marathon or a big event, it must be PANCAKES for breakfast. Might throw in a bananna or something else but must have at least a shortstack. Its tradition.

For training.... jeez this is scary. I like to have Gu Packs as I move into longer distances. Vanilla Bean preferred. Chocolate is ok too. It depends on what I have in left in supply from my last big event. (Expo giveaways rock too!)

Breakfast on training days... coffee and _______. You can fill in the blank with who knows what. Cheerios, Cornflakes, a Bagel, it really depends on what is in the fridge and if we've been to Wal-mart.

As you can tell, I need to win your giveaway!!

64 CLASSIC said...

Aimee--one more little extra.

If I'm doing an ultra or really long marathon work. I like to mix Powerade or Gatorade half strength. (Less sugar.)

Fuel on these days--I've been known to have my wife pick up a cheeseburger and a chocolate shake and meet me somewhere to refuel. Hey, Coca Cola is like JET FUEL!! What can I say??

I obviously have a stomach of steel!!

I've done three ultras that go very long running and training hours so you have to eat.

Pizza and Coke restoked the fire at a 10 hour overnight ultra last summer. And that was at like 1 a.m. See Ya!!

I am a follower and have been doing so before you hit the 100 (congrats by the way).
I like Gu Chomps and enjoy Bonk Breakers. I am struggling with nutrition/hydration so winning this would be of great help.

1. I'm a follower for a coule months now. You are actually the first tri blog I've followed
2. I was pre-105 followers...go extra entry
3. I've become a fan of Syntrax Nectar Protein drink. 90 calories and 23 grams protein. My fav flavor is pink grapefruit because post workout I want something sweet and refreshing and chocolate protein shakes don't hit the spot. This is so refreshing!!! And cliff shots and Hammer Gel are my favorite race day nutrition.

jojo88 said...

1. I started following you when T posted your blog on Facebook.

2. Where do I find what number am I? First 100? Not sure.

3. I LOVE NUUN! Tired of Gatorade, Cytomax, Hammer Heed and finally found Nuun and I absolutely love it. As for energy while I'm training I alternate between Clif Shot, Clif Bloks and Sports bean. Just recently discovered a chocolate gel made from agave, it's super yummy but it's too hot to have something so rich so I went back to the bloks.

I looooove nuun and its not just because I work for them. I loved nuun and then got the job!

I think Shot blocks are my favorite energy. I keep some in my bag for when I am out with the family since low blood sugar and a large family is not a good mix.
I like the Vanilla Bean GU the best for gels and Chocolate Mint is a close second!

I think that dried dates make a great little pick me up on a long run too. I like to keep a baggie of them in my pocket on a long run. Easy on the tummy too.

I love protein smoothies after workouts! I also love sharkies during long workouts and have been getting into nuun (triberry is my fav).

1) I just started following...great blog! Thanks for the help on my blog. I haven't done my first Tri yet. August 18th is my first.
2) Pre-105 wannabe
3) I'm still trying to figure out the Triathlon nutrition. I use PowerGels and Sport Beans during the longer training rides. I have a chocolate milk, peanut butter, banana smoothie after 60 mile rides. I also have a V8, yogurt, banana, strawberry (other fruit) smoothie to get the carbs back up between training sessions. Always open to new ideas.
