Well, I needed to do a 1:30 run today and normally I take my boys to the Kids' Club at 24hr. fitness and run on the treadmill. BUT, today my husband had the day off, so I had the opportunity to run outside. Woohoo! Because it is supposed to be 97 today, I decided to go right after we dropped our oldest off at Kindergarten, around 9AM. I got dressed and we all walked to my son's school. I got some pretty strange looks from some parents. I have to admit with my Garmin, Visor, Nathan Speed4 waistbelt, and my flashy new shoes I didn't look like ANYONE else there, but whatever!
Check out my new shoes...the Brooks ST5 racer! They are sooo bright it's crazy! But, I still LOVE them! |
I said goodbye to my boys and husband and headed out in the midst of minivans leaving the school. It IS pretty funny to see so many SUVs and minivans in one place.. ha ha! The weather was already HOT, so I decided to run an out and back route that I knew would be shaded. I have also been taking it easy on my runs b/c of my IT band incident last week and wanted to be close to home in case it flared up again.
Well, I have to say that my run today was HOT, but AWESOME! I didn't have any pain...yay!! Towards the end it was super hot and I was sooo glad to be done! I literally came inside, laid down on the floor, and let the cool AC in my house cool me off! At least it makes good practice for IMAZ.
You know it's hot outside when my face turns the same color as my shirt! Ha ha
I hope you're all having a great week!! :)

Congratulations on a great run! I am so glad that your ITB did not flare up.
WoohOO! And I LOVE those shoes!!!!
LOVE bright shoes!!
Heat = bad news for me. Good job, Aimee!!!
Man, I don't know how you do it. It doesn't get that hot here. Literally. I thought it was almost unbearable when it was 31c, which is only 88f. I salute you!
Great news that run was pain free!
97* is a cold front for us right now...sigh.
Jeff stole my thunder. If we got 97* I'd be thrilled and probably wear a long sleeve shirt on the run.
CRAZY hot here! I'm ready for a little cooler weather...not winter mind you, just a little cooler.
So glad your run was pain free and I love the shoes! And you my dear Aimee are totally fast enough to pull them off! On me they would look silly, on you FANTASTIC!
Are you ready for Harvest Moon?
I am stealing the oatmeal idea!!! I also love the shoes and way to train for AZ!
Great job on the run! And those shoes are awesome!!!
Great run in the heat! It's hard isn't it? Not so much fun in my opinion, so I've been a night time runner as of late. Can't wait to run in the sun again!
I love the look of the ST5, I always thought the ST4 were ugly
Great shoes! Great run! The heat is brutal!!!!!
SOOOOOOO glad you were pain-free! I'm in the boot until hopefully monday but we shall see. I can't wait to walk pain free!
I can't wait to hear even more about your IM training. You're going to do so well.
I think someone moved Colorado a little bit to the south, this is totally ridiculous. I saw the extended forecast calls for all 90+ days through next Wednesday. UCK! Glad you had an awesome run, and not IT issues - yay!!!!
Yikes... it has been warm there, hasn't it? Great job getting the run done and so glad that it was pain free.
And I'm loving the shoes. Bright shoes scream "I'm awesome"! :) Gotta look good!
SERIOUSLY! Can it please cool down soon, I am over the heat. I am ready for cool nights and warm (not hot) days, bring on fall!
I'm ALWAYS dressed like that when I take my son to school, no one blinks an eye, but then, this is NYC. ;). Like your new kicks!
