A week in review and other things too

Training:
*  I have one last long run, my 20 miler, this weekend before I start my taper for my marathon!  I am actually looking forward to running it this weekend.  I hope it goes well because I'm starting to get a little nervous about the 26.2 miles I have to do in 17 days!  Yikes!

*  After my marathon, I am looking at doing some sort of tri winter maintenance plan.  I did one last year from beginnertriathlete.com that I really liked, so I may do that again or look for something different.  Do any of you do some sort of maintenance plan over the winter?  If so, what do you do?

*  I'm still doing my weekly yoga class.  The instructor started offering a Monday night class at 6:30 that I'm trying to get my husband to go to with me.  He's been wanting to do more yoga, and we tried some DVDs, but they weren't the best.  So, this would be great because we could drop our boys off at Kids' Club and do the class together.  We're going to try for this Monday.  I'll let you know if it happens!

Other Things Too:
GuRoc 1.jpg
So, I can't figure out how to embed this in my blog, so here is the link to get to the good stuff! :)

*  GU has a new flavor!  It's called Island Nectars and it's supposed to be delicious!  If you'd like to try it out, they are giving away a FREE 6 pack with any purchase at guenergy.com!  Woohoo!  You can click the link above to get the promo code!

*  I am now officially a RRCA certified coach!  Woohoo!  I passed the test and the CPR/First Aid class/test and submitted all of my materials!  Now, I just have to wait 2-4 weeks to be up on the RRCA site...ugh!

*  My youngest started preschool this year and we decided to put him in 3 days a week.  It's been a rough transition for him and he cries every time I drop him off.  While this is heart wrenching for me, his teacher always assures me that he's fine and playing within 5 minutes of me leaving.  Plus, when I pick him up he is always happy and tells me about how much fun he had during the day.  I just hope that the crying stops soon because it really is hard to just hand him off and walk away. :(

On the days that he's home though, we've been having lots of fun!  This is one of my favorite pictures of us just being silly in some $1 wigs I bought at Target.

I hope you all have a great weekend! :)

Ha, ha, ha!! That picture is priceless!! My oldest had to literally be peeled off of me at preschool dropoffs, it was awful. He got over it after a month or two, thankfully, and has grown up just fine. :-)
Congrats on your official coach status!!
I'm doing my 20-miler tomorrow and then...let the taper madness begin!

You are going to do great in the marathon. You have a great base from this summer and after the 20miles you'll know you can do the distance!

What is this "winter" thing everyone is speaking of?

Love the wigs - I LOVE the $1 section at TARGET can't wait to go again. Your little guy will stop crying soon and then you will probably have a few moments where you wish he did cry! They grow up WAY too quick. Enjoy your taper. Have a fantastic weekend:)

I love that picture!

I'm glad to hear that you liked the BT maint program. I was thinking of trying it to keep me moving in the winter.

So the toe???? What happened with the toe?

Congrats on the certification!

Congrats on the RRCA!
Thing 2 did the same thing when she started preschool--broke my heart and I wanted to pull her out. But after 2 weeks she was fine. Thankfully Kinder was no problemo!
The past 2 years I've kept my long runs at no less than 13 because Boston training started in late Dec. This year I want more of a break...at least I say that now!

Congrats on the certification!! Noah started preschool this year too and had a tough transition. Same thing...crying at dropoff, but totally fine within minutes. I finally fixed it by bribing him with spiderman socks if he had a good drop-off. Three pairs later, we have no problems!! Good luck!

Congrats on your RRCA!

You'll do great on your 26.2!!!!!!

I started a base plan last january for my 70.3...this year I'll have a century ride in May that I'll be training for through the winter. I should look into a base plan from beginnertriathlete.

PS Let us know when you're ready for trainees to start flocking your way, I'm certainly interested in coaching.

That's a great picture, priceless!! Congrats on passing all your exams; welcome aboard, coach! :)

So looks like you ARE doing Denver M - yay! I am pacing a friend there, not every mile but here and there. What time do you expect to run? Maybe I can find you along the way and pop in and run a mile or so and see if you need anything.

Have a great weekend - finally looks like this heat is moving out - yay!

I have to come up with an off season plan as well. I really want to kill the swim next year, but It might take a coach to get better. Good luck with the marathon!

I love the wigs!!
Good luck at the Denver marathon. I am doing Columbus half marathon on the same day, my 19yo son is also doing the half and my husband is doing the full.

Congratulations on getting your certification. What are your plans for coaching?

Over the winter my goals for a week are:
3 hard hour long interval workouts on the bike trainer
3 runs, including one 7-10 miler and one speed
1-2 swims
3 strength workouts (I do crossfit type workouts that are 15-20 minutes of hard work)

I usually just look at my week on Sunday and see where I can fit everything in and then try to make it happen. I coach swimming (and teach full time) in the winter which makes fitting everything in hard.

I want to be a cool Mom like you! I think I'll got to Target, buy the wigs and tell my kids it was my idea. What a cool blog. I'm eager to hear about the triathlong training as maintenance. Also if you get your husband to Yoga, I want to know how you did it.

First of all the baked oatmeal rocks! a new favorite in our house.

Second, I am glad you liked the weelicious site, I am on it all the time and am going to make some stuff this weekend from there.

Third, my guy is having trouble transitioning to full days in preK. It is heart breaking when they cry and you have to leave; I feel like such a bad mother! As you said though, he comes home all happy and tells me about all the stuff he did in school. phew!

Fourth, congrats on the certification and I love the wigs!
