Hard Core Challenge

As if I don't already have enough on my schedule with HIM training and marathon training, I've decided to take on something else:  a 30 day Hard Core Challenge.  I read about the challenge at Good 'N' Weird here and thought it would be a great challenge.  After all, having a strong core is pretty much essential as a triathlete.  I've been trying to do more core exercises, and while some weeks I'm consistent, for the most part I usually drop the ball when it comes to doing them.  So, I thought the challenge would be a good way to keep me motivated.  And just so you know, that is unfortunately NOT a picture of me, but maybe my abs will look a tad similar by the end of this! :)

I wasn't able to start on June 1st because 1) I didn't know about it until June 3rd, and 2) I had my tri on Friday and didn't want the potential of sore abs for my race.  So, I started the challenge on the 6th.  I think there is a good mix of exercises and I love how she incorporates some yoga moves.  In fact, I think those are the hardest ones!

Kristina at Good 'N' Weird is taking before and after pictures and measurements, but I won't be doing any of that.  Hopefully I'll be able to see the changes and feel them during my swims, bike rides, and runs.  Because after all, I'm not doing this to look good in a bathing suit.  I'm doing it to become stronger and healthier.  But, on the other hand, it would be nice to have killer abs like Beth at Shut Up and Run! or EMZ at If I can't convince you --I'll at least confuse you!  :)

I keep meaning to get into core work. Its seriously just getting it into your weekly routine that is so hard. Good luck with it and I hope it works out! (pun intended!)

Awesome idea... I think I might take this on over the off season. Just gotta get Superman motivated to do it with me... might help me rid him of the beer keg in his belly!!! :)

I dream of the day I'm as motivated as you to do 70.3.

I think I may start this next week. I wouldn't mind toning my abs for the bathing suit this summer since I plain to spend LOTS of time at the beach! I wish my abs were even remotely close to that picture you posted above.
Enjoy all of your training!

I want those abs. Couldn't I just buy them? Even if they turn out not to look like this (but why wouldn't they), you will be so strong! I'll have to investigate this further when my body can function again.

How fun!! A challenge!! Its always fun to toss a challenge in when training.

Am I the only one who finds this wrong? You shouldn't work your abdominal muscles every day, just like the other muscles in your body. Doing core/ab work two to three nonconsecutive days a week is enough. I don't mean to rain on everyone's parade, but in my professional opinion, I give this challenge a 'thumbs down'.

Abs are made in the kitchen!

I need to do some work on my core and abs for sure! I started taking a pilates class and hope to do that a couple times a week... hoping this will help tremendously as it has in the past! Good luck with the challenge!
