A week in review and other things too

Training:
*  This week has been pretty low key because of my marathon on Sunday.  I have to say that I was sore the day after the race, but my soreness actually was not as bad as I thought it would be.  It makes me think about my current level of fitness and how, once again, I am amazed at what our bodies can do and overcome.
*  I have already designed my training plan for the RNR AZ marathon!  I'm excited about it and am anxious to get back out there training.  But, I know I need to let my body rest and fully recover before I take on the long runs again.  The last thing I want to do is start back too hard, too soon and end up injured.

* I went to my yoga class this week and we had a substitute teacher.  At first I was bummed because in the past, the subs haven't been that good.  But, I really liked the teacher.  We did a series of form poses/stretches and would hold them for awhile before moving on to the next one.  I didn't want a hard workout today and the poses were perfect for stretching my piriformis, hamstrings, and other leg muscles.  She also had us do these foot stretches and rubs that were amazing!  It was just what I needed!

Other Things Too:
*  Welcome new followers!!!  I cannot believe I almost have 200 followers!  Wow!  I'm thinking of doing another fun giveaway when I reach 200!!  Yay!

*  I had such a fun time with my mom, sister, and nephews!  All of the boys got along pretty good for the most part.  There were some crazy moments, but that's to be expected when you put 4 boys 5 and under all in the same house for 5 days! :)

Here are three of them playing in the water and mud!  Yes, they are typical boys!  :)

*  My husband celebrated his birthday on Monday!  We had a fun family party for him, then all dug into a delicious ice cream cake from Dairy Queen!  Seriously, those cakes are sooo good!

He's been getting into mountain biking again this year, so I went with that for the theme of his cake.  The boys got a kick out of the picture and thought it was the coolest thing!

*  Every day it seems like the days are getting shorter and shorter.  I love fall, but I do not like the shorter, darker days.  There are only so many hours of daylight that we can use to get training in outside, and inevitably, I'm going to have to start using my trainer and treadmill a lot more.

Lovely area isn't it??  We have to put the "fence" around it so the boys don't get into all of the equipment!

*  At the RNR Denver expo, there was a booth for the CEP compression socks.  I stopped and told the guy that I loved the socks and was planning on wearing them in the marathon.  He gave me a wristband with a website address on it and told me that if I submitted a picture of me racing in the socks I would get a free pair!  Score!  I'm planning on giving my sister the free pair because honestly, I don't really need another pair.  Although, the pink ones are pretty cute! :)
* I won this tri charm from a giveaway awhile back and I really like the graphics on it!  It has a swim, bike, and run picture around it.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.  I may put it on a band as a bracelet or make it into a necklace, but I just don't know.  Any suggestions??

I hope you all have a great weekend! :)

Love the cake, fun picture on it! I know what you mean about the days getting shorter! I haven't done any training outside...it's all been on the treadmill at the gym and on the trainer in my garage...
Have a great weekend!

I'm about to redo my workout area - yours is so nice! Mine has Legos, balls, all kinds of toys all through it. I'd need a higher fence than yours to keep stuff out.

I'm jealous of your free socks. Those things are the best!

Love your home gym area. I have been seriously considering asking for a treadmill for xmas, days are getting shorter here to and while not snowy RAINY and icky.

Bodies are amazing, especially when you put in the work on training. So proud of you on your first mary and looking forward to hearing about your training for the next one!

I love CEP socks. I bought 2 pairs at the expo with...$4 each. They were incorrectly marked (instead of $40), and the guy sold them to me before changing the price. Score! Love them. Can't believe you are doing another marathon in December! Awesome! And I agree, rest up, that is what I am doing, too!

Hahaha...Kovas..."a higher fence". I can't wait to get a gym started at my house. What I'd do for a TM.

We so need one of those fences! That is brilliant! My son keeps taking the chain off my bike! I like the idea of a bracelet but that is just my thoughts and they aren't usually the best!

Major score on the socks - yay!! Glad you are recovering well and giving the long runs a little break, you'll come back stronger for sure!! Love that pic of your boys and nephews, soooo cute. I remember the days...

Great gym area. Need to figure out how to get a new room in the house without paying for it and have that be a dedicated gym area. Wife has been discussing a treadmill and I keep putting it off telling her it is better to run outside anyway.....I think just because I hate treadmills. I'm a 2 miler max on them.

Sweet you are doing Arizona! January 2010 is my 30th and I want to do a BIG race for it. I can't wait to hear what you think of it : )

I did the Arizona 1/2 last year. It was my first and by far the best. I think there were 35,000 people last year. Very flat course (at least the half was).

I think about getting a treadmill but.. I don't know. Can you recommend a good one?

Holy cow Aimee...I can't believe that you are running another one so quick after the first!?! Awesome! I am thinking about doing the R & R Vegas Half in December. My hubby is going to Arizona in November and wanted to go to Vegas in December. Otherwise I would of done the one in Arizona. I am thinking that my next marathon will be in early spring of next year:) Maybe you will inspire me to do one sooner!

Happy birthday to your hubby:)

If they offer the same incentive at the expo, we will both get a free pair! Rock on RNR!

Love the little yoga guy you found.

I love compression socks. Very much.

Love your workout area.

The charm is cool.

Love the charm... I have one kind of like it (it's a 140.6 one though) and it's the only tri bead on my Pandora bracelet! :)

You are smart to not rush the long training yet... you are going to have a great race in AZ when you are good and recovered and fully trained again. Any new goals for it?

Happy late birthday to the hubby! I love DQ...
