S.I.C.K.

*Warning: whining ahead!
So, I got a prescription for bronchitis on Christmas Eve (yay me!) and have since then developed yet another cold on top of it!  For some reason, my body is just having a really hard time fighting whatever virus I have.  I have a theory though that because my kids were sick, and now they aren't, that somehow my body has absorbed all of their sickness so that they could be better.  That's what moms are for right?!
S is for sleep

What sleep???  All the snot and coughing is making it really hard to sleep.  Thankfully, with my concoction of Theraflu and Delsym I'm able to get some sleep, but not nearly enough to get better!  Ugh!

I is for irritated
source
My nose looks like Rudolph's nose.  It is soooo not attractive right now!  I have been spreading on the Aquaphor like crazy trying to keep the redness at bay.

C is for coughing
I just can't seem to stop coughing!  It seriously sounds like a barking dog when I cough.  It's bad enough that whenever I cough in a public place I get really bad glares from the people around me.

K is for Kleenex

Seriously, this is ridiculous!  I had to make a special trip to Target yesterday to get more Kleenex.  Ugh!

*My plans for the marathon in 3 weeks are slowly changing.  I haven't been able to run since that 19 miler over a week ago.  I've tried, but I just ended up coughing up a lung!  It was not pleasant!!  Honestly, I don't know what I'm going to do.  I am just frustrated, tired, and DONE with being sick!

O-kay, I'm done whining!
I really hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!  My family and I had a great time (besides me being sick) and my boys were super excited to see what Santa brought them.  :)

Oh no so sorry it's hanging on! I'm praying it all lifts with the new year. BTW the PNP was a total hit with the kiddos! They bought it hook line and sinker. Thanks!

I am so sorry that you are sick! A lot of people are really suffering right now. I am sending positive healing vibes your way!

FYI, have I mentioned that I love the new header? If I haven't then I do! Great pics!

Bummer! Hope this disappears NOW!

You know, you have built up enough fitness over the past year, that with a few runs between now and the marathon, you could totally still pull this off with a decent time!

Sorry you're sick.....but think of all the rest (you should?) you're getting...?:)

Jon is right...you have it in you to run...you have banked a lot of fitness and it hasn't been withdrawn yet!
Get better....I'd send you kleenex if we lived closer:)

Ughh...I hope you feel better soon!!Try not to stress about the marathon...it is what it is, so don't worry about what you cannot control.

I am so sorry you are sick!! It sucks. I hope you feel better soon.

I agree with Jon. I think you have enough fitness built up over the past year that with a few runs between now and then, you could still pull off a decent time.

You're totally entitled to whine! Such a bummer to be sick at the holidays and so close to your marathon. But...as someone who has been in your shoes, know that the best thing you can do now is rest, rest, rest! Feel better.

You poor thing. Nothing worse than feeling sick and blah and wanting to just get out there and tackle the world. Rest is your best friend now, there will be many more runs in the future.

Yes, rest up. An early taper is better than making yourself worse. I hope you feel better soon.

My wife got sick a few days ago.... I was so worried I decided to leave town.. (nice, huh?)

Oh no Aimee... REST REST REST (like you don't already know that) and I think you'll be alright for the marathon!

Pahla said...

Oh, Aimee, I'm so sorry you can't shake this thing! I agree with the crowd here, though - you are still going to be fine at your marathon, you have plenty of fitness to carry it out. *fingers crossed* for a speedy recovery. :-)

Ugh! I hate being sick. You are allowed to whine for a bit. My wife always says that I am the worse whiner in the house. Although... to think of it, does that make ANY sense? I should be the best whiner in the house, no?!

Sorry you're sick! I can completely relate to being just a couple weeks away from your marathon and not knowing if you will do it. Not a great feeling I know!! Your first priority has to be to get back to 100% healthy.... then you think about that marathon. If you ran 19 miles last week you can still def do the marathon, but you'll likely need to adjust your goals to reflect your circumstances right now. Grrrrr. Get well soon!

aww, you just can't catch a break with the cold/sickness thing :( It's especially gotta be frustrating with the marathon right around the corner.

Get lots of rest, vitamin C, and fluids.... Hope you feel better soon!!!

Yea I've got a cold or somthing too...all in the chest. ICK! Second one this year and I bet I haven't been sick twice in the last 5 years...crazy!

Hope you feel better soon! I bet you rock that marathon no matter what!

Oh, I hope you start to feel better soon. W is for warmth and H is for hugs - sending both your way to help you feel better.

Jill said...

Um....yeah, let's not run together this week!!! :(

Keep pushing those fluids and let's get your healthy again so you can get on with Phoenix and have a blast!!!

btw, meant to tell you I do not know the name of that trail out of Frisco but it is directly off the second exit to Frisco (West side of Lake Dillion) and you park right there at the top of the exit ramp before you turn left into town. It was you who asked me where we snowshowed, I hope. :) I think the trail is about 10 miles long so you can definitely get in a great workout!

Hope a quick recovery for you! Focus on getting back to healthy and then take the marathon a step at a time

Seriously sucks Aimee. Hey if it is any consolation after I was sick 2 weeks ago my training has rocked. I think my body appreciated the down time. Sooo by this logic it means this may actually help your marathon training!

Regina said...

Oh boo! I totally sympathize, have been sick too. A will be posting my own whine later. Get lots of rest (if you can). Feel better soon.

Tim Wilson said...

Sorry you are sick, hope you can kick it soon and get that marathon back in the plans!

Such a bummer. Get well and don't worry about the marathon. Look at it as a training run for Arizona, and you might even surprise yourself.

Oh my goodness! You're singing my song! My family and I have been sick for three weeks now! I'm definitely the worst though. My nose is so sore and I've been coughing like it's going out of style. I also have asthma though. I have been able to run, but I take several inhalers and a steroid nasal spray. Do you have asthma? When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I developed asthma. Now I see an allergist for it. He told me that a diagnosis of bronchitis is reserved only for asthmatics. That a cold triggers an asthma flareup and causes a secondary infection. You might feel a whole lot better if you were using an inhaler. I'm not huge into taking medication in general, and reserve my inhalers only for true flareups, but since I've had them my colds don't turn into bronchitis or pneumonia. Also, I can still run when I'm sick. I have to be careful to take it easy, but I find the running actually helps. Hope you feel better!

Just catching up on everybody.
I hope you are feeling better!
I cought the whole coughing, congestion, nose running thing after Thanksgiving and lost my voice for a week. Sometimes I still think I am carrying some of the crud with me.
Oh, glad to hear that your toe is better :)
