A week in review and other things too

Training:
I had a pretty good training week, but I am so tired today!  My whole body just feels fatigued.  I think it may have something to do with all of those French pastries I ate on our mini vacation in the mountains! Ha ha!

*  I took advantage of Xterra's sale (which they always seem to have..ha ha) and bought the Vortex 3 sleeveless wetsuit!  I finally got to try it out at the Aquaman swim race on Tuesday night.  It felt a little tight in the neck, but once I got in the water it was fine.  Can I just say that I love that wetsuit!  It was so comfortable and I didn't feel constricted at all.  I really think my full wetsuit may have been contributing to some of my breathing issues.  I was a little nervous at the start, but excited to get more swim race practice in before my HIM.
They counted down and we were off!  I felt great in the water and didn't have the usual panic/freak out that I usually get.  The only time I had to breastroke was when waves from the jetskis started pounding me.  I finished and checked my watch.  I did it in ~15min. yay!  Now, I know that isn't a very fast time, but considering the fact that the fastest I've ever swam a 1/2M in a race was 19min, I was thrilled with the 15.  I needed that little boost of swimming confidence!  I'm planning on doing the 1M swim next week, so we'll see how that goes.

*  I had a great bike ride on Wed. night.  After dinner my husband put the boys down so I could go for my ride.  Yay!  As I was going around the Cherry Creek Res. this is what I saw:
The rainbow was so beautiful!  Then, a little bit later in my ride, I got to see the sunset.
It was such a beautiful ride and it just made me so thankful for all that I have and am able to do.

Other things too:

* Patrick at The Road has launched The Endurance Athlete Project and I think you all should check it out!

*  So, what do you do when it's 96 degrees outside and you have two boys that want to play?  Bring on the Buzz Lightyear rocket sprinkler!

Can you see the anticipation in their faces?

BLAST OFF!  Look at how excited they are!  I love this picture!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  Good luck to all of you that are racing this weekend too!  You are going to do great! :)

Great job on the 1/2 mile swim! Hey, I just noticed you have 100 followers! You need to do something to commemorate it...that's special.

Love the pics of the boys and how super excited they look as Buzz Lightyear starts moving. Too cute!

Great job on the swim! I took advantage of the Xterra "constant-offer" last year and love my Vortex 3. I sort of wish I would have gone sleeveless, but some of the lakes around here stay pretty cold.

What an amazing sunset! I know exactly the kind of feeling you are talking about. This sport makes me thankful for something every day.

Wow! is that sunset even real?

And that sprinkler is too cool. The coolest thing we had when I was their age was the yellow slip and slide! :)

For the price Xterras are a steal! I'm looking into a sleeved one in addition to my sleeveless for early spring and late fall swims. They are that good.

That picture is priceless!!!! My son would pee his pants if we had that...Alas, we have no yard in the city.

That sunset is great! What is also great is you had a good swim, woo hoo! It will definitely give you confidence for the next time, trust me, I know.

Excellent pictures! I've been to Denver/Boulder a few times, but its been 10+ years since I've been there. Love that area and the people. Much more endurance sport oriented.

I have to try out more wetsuits. I've tried one, & hated the feeling of not being able to get a proper big breath in - quite an issue when I'm already trying to calm myself down during an OWS.
