Enough Already!

I have a love/hate relationship with weather.com.  I love how it gives you up to date weather info., how you can check the 10 day forecast, and how you can even get hour by hour weather info.  But, it is driving me crazy!  I think I have been checking Sunday's forecast for my race literally 10 times a day hoping that a magical temperature will appear on the screen.  But, it has and is still forecasting weather in the 90s on race day.  So, ENOUGH ALREADY!  I have got to stop looking at the forecast.  Because, no matter what it is, it is not in my control and I will just have to deal with whatever temp. Mother Nature brings us.

So, I have come to terms that race day is going to be HOT.  With that being said, I have decided to ditch my black Sugoi tri top and wear a cute pink and purple one instead.  Isn't it cute? :)

With sun rays blaring down on me during the run, the last thing I want is a black piece of clothing calling the sun rays to concentrate on my body.  The thing is, I have yet to wear this tri top in an actual tri.  I bought it months ago thinking I would wear it this season.  But then, Outside PR was gracious enough to send me the Sugoi tri top to try and review and I love it and have worn it in every race since.

Although I'm not going to get a chance to swim or bike in it, I did get a chance to run in it this weekend.  I headed out around 10:45, around the same time I'm hoping to be starting my run on Sunday.  It was sunny and hot out.  I ran for an hour and came back completely sweaty and red faced, but the top performed beautifully.  So, it's definitely a go for the race.  Plus, I think wearing a pink top will be easier for my family to pick me out of a crowd then a black top.  And if they can see me, then they can cheer for me, and I have a feeling that I will need every cheer they can give me to help me through.

P.S.  Sorry about not having a Humpastry Day post today.  I promise I'll be back with something delicious next week! :)

Aimee,
Here's to hoping that the weather cools a little before race day.
I kept watching the forcast for Steelhead last weekend and it was partly sunny all week, until the day before and suddenly we had rain all morning.
As you know, all we can do is meet what comes at us head on!!

Enjoy every bit of the race, and especially enjoy that HUGE feeling of accomplishment as you cross the finish line!!

Good luck!

Fingers crossed the heat cuts by race day. Hang in there! I am finding wunderground.com and accuweather.com to have more accurate weather predictions and current reports than weather.com in case you are looking for 2nd or 3rd opinions.

Don't go too taper crazy! Maybe a pastry will calm the nerves?

I am very excited for your race this weekend! I hope it cools off for you. Either way, don't get crazy about the weather, just plan accordingly and you'll be fine. The training was the hard part, the race is your reward. Enjoy it and good luck!

Good luck this weekend! Hopefully the weather breaks at least a little bit for you.

I 2nd Jon's suggestion of wunderground.com. I've given up on weather.com. I like wundergroup.com because you can actually see the individual weather data from each of the stations in the city. So, if I am biking west, I can see if the wind changes once I get out of the city.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the temps drop for you!

However, our heat index is 118 degrees right now and when I saw that number I thought it should be higher. It is miserable to be outside right now...aaggghhh

I can check the weather in the morning and still have it completely wrong for the afternoon, so you never know!

I think that top is super cute and will definately catch the eye of your cheering family.
It's always good when a shirt helps keep you cool on a hot day.

LOL, I have been focusing on the temps also. It is going to be 92 and sunny. What fun!
Pink is a good choice. I plan to put ice in every pocket, my hat, shorts and bra. Whatever it takes to not overheat. If nothing else it will give me a jolt. Especially when I pour water over me.

Yep, not much you can do about the weather. The forecast is only good a couple days out and seems to change on race day anyhow.

I'll be thinking of you guys on Sunday! Hoping things will go your way! Good luck and have some fun out there too!

Oh, that's a very cute top, and we all know that's the most important thing to ensure a good race! :-) I drive myself nuts with the weather forecast, too, but since you can't change it, be grateful for all the awesome training you put in. You're going to ROCK!!!

Ice, Ice, Ice (which you can get) and motivation (which you have). You'll be fine.

I check the weather like a maniac before a race too- and lately, since I have been racing back-to-back weekend, I have been able to see two race weather predictions at a time! Crazy!

You will do great :)

I have this top in purple and I love it. My only advice is to remember to put sunscreen in the gaps between in the built-in bra and the top (bra is racerback & top is a U-shape). There are two little slits of skin exposed! :-) Can't tell you how many times I've burned here.

Good luck this weekend!!!!

I am so psyched for you!! I meant to mention this and forgot; you said you were worried about having enough fluids on your bike, doesn't the course have a bottle exchange on the bike? That would save you the trouble of having to haul all your liquids at once. Just thought it might be easier, they had one in my HIM.

I love the pink top, you will not be missed for sure. Like you said, you can't control the weather so you might as well focus on stuff you have control over: nutrition and pacing.

Can't wait to read your RR, Good luck!!

Haha, I can be a compulsive weather-checker myself! :]

I think pink is the way to go. I went w/a colored top too just for that reason. And is that the new Zoot top w/the cool mesh styled back? I saw a lot of em' on the course and they look cool.

So excited for you!!;-)

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who obsesses over weather.com leading up to a race! Having an iPhone has only made my obsession worse.

Good luck!!!

Pink is an awesome colour on race day. Like you said, it is visible and your family can find you easily.
Recently, my boys have been picking out my race gear for me; they know exactly who to look for and my youngest is especially excited because I'm wearing something he really wants me to wear.
