A Big Mess!

What do you get when you decide to redo your kitchen DIY style?

A BIG MESS!!
Our kitchen pretty much looks like a war zone.  We ripped out our old back splash, took off the old cabinet doors/drawers so I could sand and repaint, and we're waiting for a new countertop.  Let me tell you, it is A LOT of work.  My poor little guys have been totally neglected this past week and have basically been planted in front of the TV when they're not at school!  Usually I don't let them watch a lot of TV, but we have to do what we have to do.  Besides, nonstop episodes of Backyardigans, Little Einsteins, Wonder Pets, and Dora/Diego can be considered "learning" programs...ha ha!

Anyways, I have been absent from bloggy land b/c of our never ending projects.  Why is it that when you estimate a job to take a weekend it actually ends up taking weeks!?!  Ugh!

I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day!  :)

Oh lordie!! I respect people so much that get involved in DIY projects. I for one, do not have the patience or the smarts to be able to complete a project like that. More power to ya! I want to see AFTER pictures.

Oh wow, I envy you, I went to the Tim Allens Tool Time school of DIY, I am not allowed to do projects of that magnitude

I know how you feel. I thought painting my living room and kitchen would take a weekend. 5 weeks later I'm finally done!

Yowza. That's a mess. But the final product will be worth it, right?

If you just leave the stuff on the table it will free up room in the cabinets, you know? give it some thought

I wish I could take on a project like re-doing the kitchen. And I also keep telling myself Dora is educational.

Yikes! Good luck w/ that. I know better than to try to do anything myself - hub & I are SO not handy.

Aww, good luck with that! I don't think I would even consider attempting something like that myself. Gotta find a handy boyfriend/husband to do stuff like that for me! :)

My husband and I remodeled our first house ourselves so I completely feel your pain, except we didn't have kids! I actually felt guilty about neglecting our dogs during that time. I am sure your kitchen will be beautiful and so worth it. Can't wait to see it done!

Oooh I can't wait to see what this looks like when you're all finished.

We really like our kitchen but I'd like to extend the backsplash so it goes up higher. I'll be curious to hear if putting in back splash is difficult or not.

Also, I noticed on your side bar the Triathlete's Training Bible, is this what you use for your training plans?? I'm putting together my summer schedule and looking for a new plan.

Kitchens are BIG work. But it'll be so worth it when. You're all done!
