Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, but now that the crazy Thanksgiving rush is all in the past I can get back on the wagon!
The weather here in Denver can be pretty unpredictable...especially around this time of year. So, when the temp. gets in the 60's we are all about being outside with our boys. My husband actually had the day off so we decided to go for a run together. There is this park close by our house that is connected to a huge trail system called the Cherry Creek Trail. Anyways, it is a great place for us to run because we can get in a good 30min. run and then end at a park where they can play to their hearts content. It's been awhile since we have all been able to run together and it was so much fun! We loaded up the boys in the jogger, gave them a "super dooper" snack (named by my boys b/c it's full of random yummy things to eat), and we were off!
Usually when I run I try to keep a certain pace, but what I love about running with my husband and boys is that it forces me to slow down. My husband is not slow by any means, but pushing a 4 and 2 year old in a jogger decreases your pace quite a bit! We were able to talk and enjoy the day and our surroundings. It was nice not to focus on running a certain distance at a certain pace and I think sometimes I forget about how much I love running. My oldest son already says he wants to be a runner like me, and I love knowing that we are instilling a love of running/exercise into our boys that they will hopefully follow when they get older.
So, from now on, even though I may be following a certain training plan, I will remember that sometimes I need to run for the love of it and not just because my plan calls for it! Happy running!
